My mom… (Story 2)

My mom had knee surgery about 6 years ago. She still has a lot of problems with her knee even after the full knee replacement. She has pain in it and she still cannot bend her knee like she should be able to. (She waited for 4 years to have surgery and really damaged it. She kept putting off the surgery.)

So yesterday she was just walking and somehow slipped and it “twisted” her knee that she had surgery on. Her knee was swollen in moments! She decided she was going to be ok and didn’t want to go to the doctor. Today she was laid up on the couch because her knee was so swollen and bruised she could barely move.

So guess what happened? My mom wobbles to her back door to let her dog out to go “potty”, and she slipped and fell AGAIN! She hurt the same knee, and this time she twisted her ankle too!  I asked her if she wanted me to come pick her up and take her to the hospital. Naturally, she is stubborn (must be where I get my stubbornness from), and she doesn’t want to go to the hospital. She wants to wait a couple days to see how it is. 😔 I’m like, “Really mom?? Yesterday you just twisted your knee that you had surgery on, and now you fall on the same knee, AND, twist your ankle bad enough, that it is already swollen and bruised? And you want to wait a few days??”

Well, I got her to agree instead of waiting a few days, that I will pick her up tomorrow, to at least go get x-rays.

She said she was going to bed because she was hurting (I imagine!). I told her night, and then I told her, “Please, do not fall on the way to bed!”
